4G Connected Dash Cams
A normal dash cam tells you what happened after you get back to the car. A 4G dash cam tells you while it’s happening. With a built-in 4G module and a Nano SIM, the VisionPro VP19 streams live view to your phone, sends an alert the moment the car is bumped, and shows exactly where it is on a map, whether you’re at work, overseas or asleep. It does all that while recording true 4K. For a third camera on the cabin, choose the VisionPro VP20.
How a 4G dash cam works
The VisionPro has a Quectel EC200D Cat.4 4G module built for Australian bands, including B28 (700MHz), one of the key bands for 4G coverage outside the cities. Put in a Nano SIM with data and the camera stays online like a phone, talking to the IRWAY app from anywhere with signal.
4G vs Wi-Fi only
| Capability | Wi-Fi only | 4G connected |
|---|---|---|
| Download clips near the car | Yes | Yes |
| Live view from anywhere | No | Yes |
| Instant impact alerts to your phone | No | Yes |
| GPS tracking, geofence and overspeed alerts | No | Yes |
| Needs a SIM and data plan | No | Yes |
What you can do with it
- Live view: check the car in real time from your phone.
- Impact alerts: get notified the moment the G-sensor detects a hit while parked.
- GPS tracking: see where the car is and where it’s been, with geofence and overspeed warnings.
- SOS and anti-theft alerts: flag an incident as it happens.
- Remote playback: pull footage without going back to the car.
Who it’s for: parents with a P-plater, owners who park on the street overnight, rideshare drivers, and small fleets that want to know where the vans are without paying for a telematics contract.
Do I need a SIM card and data plan?
For the 4G features, yes. Use any Nano SIM with data on Telstra, Optus or Vodafone. A cheap prepaid or data-only plan is usually the most cost-effective option. Live view uses the most data, while alerts and GPS use very little. Skip the SIM and the camera still works as a premium 4K dash cam, recording to the card with Wi-Fi playback.
Privacy and your footage
Footage and live view sit on your own account and your own SIM. Use a strong app password, and remember the usual rules apply to recording audio and sharing footage of other people.
Why IRWAY went 4G first
Most brands still rely on Wi-Fi only. IRWAY built its VisionPro range around 4G from the start, pairing it with 4K recording, GPS and 24/7 parking mode so one camera does the job of a recorder, a tracker and a security monitor.
4G dash cam FAQ
What is a 4G dash cam?
A dash cam with a built-in 4G LTE module and SIM slot, so it stays connected and you can reach it from your phone anywhere with signal.
Do I need a SIM card?
Yes for 4G features: a Nano SIM with data on Telstra, Optus or Vodafone. Without one it still records locally as a 4K dash cam.
How much data does a 4G dash cam use?
It depends on how often you use live view, which uses the most. Alerts and GPS tracking use very little. A small prepaid data plan suits most drivers.
Which networks work with the VisionPro?
Telstra, Optus and Vodafone. The Quectel module supports Australian bands including B28.
Are there privacy concerns?
Footage stays on your account. Use a strong password and follow the usual rules on audio recording and sharing footage.
My 4G dash cam won’t connect. What should I check?
Check the SIM is active with data, seated correctly and has signal where the car is parked, and that the camera firmware and app are up to date.
