Dash Cam Accessories

The right accessory is usually what turns a dash cam into 24/7 protection. The MyDean Power Pack CP100 ($449) runs parking mode without touching your car battery. The IRWAY OBD Power Cable ($40) gives you constant power with no fuse-box wiring. Genuine parts, backed locally, with support from our Chatswood team.

Dash Cam Accessories

Power for parking mode

MyDean Power Pack CP100

8,000mAh (96Wh) LiFePO4 cell, about 38 hours of parking recording at 3W or 57 hours at 5W, around 60 minutes to recharge while you drive, and rated from -20°C to 70°C. LiFePO4 is the safer, more heat-stable battery chemistry, which is what you want sitting in a hot Australian car. Includes a hardwiring kit.

IRWAY OBD Power Cable

Plugs into the OBD port and supplies constant power plus a simulated ACC signal to your dash cam, so parking mode works with no cutting, splicing or fuse taps. The simplest way to get 24/7 cover if you don’t want your fuse box touched.

Storage: the SD card matters more than you think

Dash cams overwrite the card constantly, which kills standard phone cards. Use a high-endurance microSD. Size it to how you drive: the VisionPro VP19 ships with 64GB, and we recommend upgrading to 256GB ($59 at checkout) if you run parking mode or record 4K front and rear daily. Check your model’s limit first: VisionPro, MK300, Z400W and F26 take up to 512GB, the MyDean S9QQ up to 256GB.

Hardwire kits

A hardwire kit connects the camera to your fuse box for constant power, with a low-voltage cut-off (around 11.8 to 12V) so the car always starts. Hardwire kits come in the box with VisionPro cameras, the MyDean MK300 and the CP100, so most customers don’t need to buy one separately.

Rear camera extension (12m)

The standard VisionPro rear cable is about 6 metres. For utes, vans, trucks and caravans, the 12-metre extension ($19 at checkout) gets the rear camera where it needs to be.

Accessories FAQ

What are the essential dash cam accessories?

A high-endurance microSD card and a parking-mode power source: a hardwire kit, OBD power cable or battery pack.

Do I need a battery pack as well as a hardwire kit?

No. They’re alternatives. A hardwire kit draws protected power from the car. A battery pack like the CP100 powers the camera independently with zero drain.

What SD card should I use in a dash cam?

A high-endurance microSD rated for continuous recording. 256GB suits 4K front and rear with parking mode. Check your camera’s maximum first.

Is the OBD power cable safe for my car?

It plugs into the standard OBD port with no wiring changes. If you’re unsure about your vehicle, contact us before you buy.

What warranty do accessories have?

12 months on parts and accessories, including cables, mounts, power adapters, SD cards and hardwire kits.
